The Community R-VI Board of Education met in Regular Session on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. The Board approved the minutes of the June 17, 2008 regular Board of Education Meeting and the transfer from the general fund to the teacher's fund to cover monthly expenditures.

The Board set athletic admission at $3.00 adult and $2.00 student, with a maximum of $7.00 per family. Also pricing on season tickets will be Adult Pass $25 for 10 Admissions and Student Pass for $10 for 10 Admissions, family will be a maximum of 2 punches on an adult pass. Family is defined as father, mother and those dependent children living in the same household. Lifetime Senior Citizens passes will be issued at no charge to patrons of the R-VI School District 65 years of age or older. Any senior citizen 65 years of age or older will be not be charged to attend athletic events.

The Board voted to set lunch prices at the same level as last school year: Elementary - $1.25; Secondary - $1.50; Adult - $2.00. Breakfast prices will also remain at the same cost as last school year: Elementary - $1.00; Secondary - $1.00; Adult - $1.25. Milk prices will remain at $.25 per carton.

The Board of Education adopted the guidelines of the Free and Reduced Lunch program. The program sets the prices for K-12 reduced lunch - $.40 and breakfast - $.30.

The Board voted to accept the resignations of English Teacher Betty Fennewald and Custodian Larry Creek.

The Board approved payment of July 2008 Bills.

Board President Kevin Deimeke read a thank you note from Mary Thomas for the plant sent at the time of her mother’s death. Board Member Warren Hale read a thank you note from Steve Walton and the Shooters basketball team for the use of the gym.

District Architect Martin Meyer presented plans for district renovations and advertisement for bid. After reviewing and discussing the information, the Board voted to proceed with the first phase of the project, which is heating, cooling and ventilation for the VoAg Building.

This Board reviewed dairy bids, bread bids and bids for fuel and lubricants. The Board received only one bread bid, which was rejected. Bread bids will be re-sent. The Board approved the bid for fuel and lubricants from Martinsburg Farmers Elevator. The Board approved the milk bid from Central Dairy.

Superintendent Arlen Provancha provided the Transportation Report and Summer School Attendance. He reported the district received the Missouri Preschool Project Grant, an Ed French/Martinsburg Bank and Trust Grant, and the Vocational Enhancement Grant for the business department. Mr. Provancha also reported the annual district audit went very well.

Secondary Principal Dr. Steven Wolf reported there would be no significant changes to the Secondary Student Handbook and Secondary Faculty Handbook.

While in Executive session, the Board voted to offer employment as a district teacher to Holly Gemes for the middle school social studies position and to offer extra duty positions of cross country to Jonathan Bowen and assistant girl's basketball coach to Holly Gemes.

The next regular Board of Education Meeting will be held August 19, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the school library.
