Community R-VI July 2007 Board of Education Update
The Community R-VI Board of Education met in Regular Session on Wednesday,
July 11, 2007.
The Board approved the minutes of the Regular Board of Education Meeting held June 13, 2007 and the transfer from the general fund to the teacher's fund to cover monthly expenditures.
The Board voted to set the admission prices at $3 adult, $2 student, $7 maximum for family, $25 adult pass (10 admissions), $10 student pass (10 admissions), and Lifetime Senior Citizens at no charge.
The Board set lunch prices for 2007-2008 school year at $1.25 for elementary, $1.50 for secondary, and $2.00 for adults. The Board set breakfast prices at $1.00 for elementary, $1.00 for secondary, and $1.25 for adults. The Board voted to set the milk prices at $0.25.
The Board accepted the resignation of Aide Molly Ahrens.
The Board voted to name Jake Moss and Arlen Provancha as the co-safety coordinators.
The Board voted to adopt the guidelines of the 2007-2008 Free and Reduced Lunch program and set the reduced lunch price at $.40 and breakfast price at $.30.
The annual Board dinner will be rescheduled sometime later in the year.
The Board approved payment of July 2007 bills.
Preschool Teacher Bonnie Wilson presented a PowerPoint on the Pre-School Program. There are 8 preschool openings for next year with 14 applicants.
The Board accepted the Anderson Erickson bid for milk, the Interstate Brands bid for bread and the Martinsburg Farmers Elevator bid for diesel fuel and lubricants.
The Board voted to purchase a John Deere 3320 tractor from
Sydenstricker Implement Company with the eHydro transmission option at a cost
of $14,420 with additional $580 for the eHydro transmission option for a
total of $15,000.
The Board voted to prepay 2000 gallons of propane with Service and Supply Coop.
Superintendent Arlen Provancha provided the monthly and annual Transportation Report.
Superintendent Arlen Provancha commented on the summer school attendance. Enrollment and attendance were both up this year.
Superintendent Arlen Provancha provided updates on the Missouri Preschool Project Grant and the Technology Grant. We were funded for the MO Preschool Project. DESE has re-opened the application process for the Technology Grant. We will hope to hear by September 1, 2007.
Superintendent Arlen Provancha updated the Board on the use of the buses. School district owned buses cannot be used for anything other than the transportation of students to and from school and to school related events.
The security system has been installed and is running well. The annual audit will be July 25, 2007. The administration office will be closed July 16-19, 2007. The administration and a team of three teachers will be attending the Professional Learning Communities conference.
Elementary Principal Natalie Gibson presented the changes to the 2007-2008
Student Handbook. The changes to the 2007-2008 Faculty Handbook were also presented.
Secondary Principal Jake Moss presented the changes to the 2007-2008 Student
Handbook. There were no significant changes, other than the graduation requirements.
The changes to the 2007-2008 Elementary, Middle/School High School and Faculty
Handbook were accepted.
The Board voted to employ Betty Fennewald as the high school English teacher
and to employ Rebecca McCurdy as a high school math teacher.
The Board voted to employ Carrie Blair as the elementary classroom aide and to employ Julia Hunt as the elementary classroom aide.
The August Board of Education Meeting will be held August 21, 2007 at 7 p.m. in the school library.
