The Community R-VI Board of Education met in Regular Session on Tuesday, June 17, 2008. President Kevin Deimeke called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The Board approved the agenda and the following consent items: the minutes of the Regular Board of Education Meeting held on May 20, 2008 and the transfer from the general fund to the teacher's fund to cover monthly expenditures.
The Board set the annual Tax Rate Hearing for Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., with the Regular Board of Education Meeting to follow.
The Board discussed and approved the summer school bus routes. The district is currently running four bus routes for summer school.
The Board authorized all necessary transfers, including the allowed transportation transfer, as well as amending the budget to equal actual expenditures and revenues at the end of the current fiscal year. The current fiscal year will end June 30, 2008.
The Board approved soliciting bids for dairy products, bakery products, and fuel and lubricants.
The Board approved Sherri Deimeke as the 2008-2009 Board of Education Secretary and appointed Arlen Provancha and Steven Wolf as Safety Coordinators for the 2008-2009 school year.
The Board approved payment of June 2008 bills. Board President Kevin Deimeke read a thank you note from Glenda Norton.
The Board voted to adopt a resolution, which states, “The Community R-VI Board of Education is grateful for the overwhelming passage of the recent School Bond Issue and appreciates the confidence shown by the patrons of the district. The Board is excited about the future of the Community R-VI School District and looks forward to helping make the district improvements a reality”.
District Architect Martin Meyer presented sketches of possible ideas for district renovations. The board reviewed and discussed the information, which includes plans for the entrance from the school parking lot and the plans for replacing the classroom windows. The Board provided their input. The Board is pleased with the schematic design and concepts and the consensus is to proceed with the renovations.
The Board discussed the new and revised policies and regulations and voted to adopt the following policies and regulations: P2100, P2130, P2655, P3106, P6530, P6531, R6531, R1310, R2110, R2663, R4810.
The Board approved the proposed 2008-2009 Budget and voted to continue the Bid Proposal Agreement for Banking Services with Martinsburg Bank and Trust, including opening a new account for the funds from the sale of the General Obligation Bonds.
The Board voted to contract 2000 gallons of propane with Service and Supply Coop for the 2008-2009 school year.
District Superintendent Arlen Provancha provided the monthly transportation report. Mr. Provancha presented a letter from the Missouri State Highway Patrol commending the district on achieving 100% in the recent bus inspection. Mr. Provancha also spoke about Senate Bill 711, which deals with district tax rate rollbacks.
Elementary Principal Natalie Gibson presented elementary enrollment and attendance for the end of the school year. Mrs. Gibson reported on the current summer school program including the summer school lunch program. She also reported some of the summer school students and several teachers will be traveling to Clarksville, Missouri on Wednesday to help fill sand bags for the flooding. In the absence of Secondary Principal Jake Moss, Mrs. Gibson provided middle school/high school enrollment and attendance.
The Board voted to employ the following personnel: Jonathan Bowen for the middle school math and science position, Charles Kirby for the middle school social studies position, Jennifer Schaffer as the middle school/high school counselor.
Additionally the Board offered the following extra duty positions: Michael Boedeker—Baseball Head Coach, James Benson—Boy’s Basketball Head Coach; Charles Kirby—Cross Country, Asst. High School Girl’s Basketball Coach; and Track Coach, Jonathan Bowen—Asst. Baseball Coach, Rose Wilburn—School Play and Drama Sponsor; and Cheerleading Sponsor—Nicki Deimeke.

at 7 p.m. in the school library.
