Community R-VI School District
October Board of Education Update
The Community R-VI Board of Education met in Regular Session on Tuesday
October 16, 2007. The Board approved the agenda and the following consent items:
the
minutes of the Regular Board of Education Meeting held September 18,
2007,
the transfer from the general fund to the teacher's
fund
to cover
monthly expenditures, and the Nurse's Report for October.
The Board reviewed and approved the evaluations for: Public Relations, Assessment, and Curriculum
The Board approved the additions of the following substitute teachers: Thad Radford, Jean Zumbehl, Thomas Morgan, Mary E. Treat, Jamie Boyd, Liz Carline, and Selena Jones and accepted the resignation of classroom aide Shonda Logerman. The Board approved payment of October 2007 Bills.
District Teacher Gayle Madsen and several of her students demonstrated reading activities they are using in the classroom.
The Board voted to approve the procedure and application for the Margaret Grace Dillard Memorial Scholarship.
The Board amended the 2007-2008 Calendar
to include the following changes:
Spring
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held February 13 and 14; no school on February
15, 2008; moved the early release PDC from February 15
to February
29; and school will be in session on March 14, 2008.
The Audit Report for fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 is not complete and the district was granted a 60-day extension from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Superintendent Arlen Provancha presented the monthly Transportation Report.
The district received 100% on the annual bus inspection and also on a recent kitchen inspection. Mr. Provancha also report as a result of last spring's MSIP review the district has once again been fully accredited.
After discussion, the Board voted to pay the current assessment to C.E.E. ($1 per student) and withdraw the district from the Committee for Educational Equality.
Mr. Provancha reported there was some vandalism recently on the playground and the students that caused the destruction are repairing the damage.
Elementary
Principal Natalie Gibson presented elementary enrollment and attendance. She
also provided elementary M.A.P. information and strategies the
elementary
is using to improve scores. She reported Third
Grade Teacher
Missy Carter has submitted an idea created by one of her students
to Mailbox
Magazine. The Board voted to accept new grade cards for first grade.
Middle School/High School Principal Jake Moss provided middle school/high school attendance and enrollment. Mr. Moss presented student information from last spring M.A.P. testing and spoke about end of course testing.
The Board voted to send letters congratulating each student that scored
a 4
or 5 on the M.A.P. tests. The board also voted to recognize those students
that
presented at the Technology Conference at Tan-Tar-a and the students
that
did
the reading presentation at the October Board Meeting.
While in Executive Session, the Board voted to employ Tina Britton as a
cook and to employ Vicki Graves as an elementary aide.

of Education Meeting will be on November 20, 2007
