How I wish Parents as Teachers had been around when my husband and I had our first child in 1971!  I had never even held a baby before then.  In fact, when my grandmother came to see Meredith the day after she was born the first thing she asked me was if she had all her fingers and toes and even though she had been brought to my room several times I didn't have a clue.  I was  afraid to unwrap the blanket the nurses had around her for fear I would break her.

My husband had lots of experience because his sister, Linda (Gastler) was born when he was 16.  I don't think Meredith would have survived without his help and the use of the book of that generation:
Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care.

Since that time, science has discovered many things about how babies and children develop.  PAT has put that information together into a wonderful program which assists parents in learning all about their children's development and activities to do which will enhance their parenting skills.

When I was in college from 1995-99 I learned a lot of these things in school.  When my grandson was born, I tried them out on him and was amazed at the results.  If you are interested in being the best parent you can be and assisting your child in language, motor, intellectual, and social-emotional development, PAT is the place to go!
