Extended Closure

Wednesday, April 1, 2020

Dear Community R-VI Families:

The ongoing spread of COVID-19 in our area requires school districts to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of our community.  The Community R-VI School District continues to closely monitor this situation. We are maintaining contact with the Audrain County Health Department and leadership in the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Based on current information regarding the continued spread of COVID-19 we have determined it is necessary to extend our school closure through Friday, April 17.  This includes all extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and practices.

The tentative date for reopening our schools will be Monday, April 20 (this was a scheduled make-up day for us).  Throughout the coming days we will continue to monitor this situation, heed recommendations from Audrain County Health Department and directives from the Governor as we evaluate the need to extend this date.

While we understand school closure creates unique hardships for our families, the safety and health of our students and families remains our highest priority. At this time, we will continue to provide breakfast and lunch to all children age 18 and younger at no charge and provide Wi-Fi to each of our four (4) communities.  If you have questions, please visit our district website and Facebook page regularly.

We appreciate your patience and support during this difficult time. We miss our students and look forward to the time we can be back together.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Mack,

Superintendent
