The Community R-VI School District is excited to welcome our new Physical Education teacher and Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, Mr. Jack Rigdon! He has served as an athletic director, junior high/high school physical education teacher, and high school business/math teacher. This will be his 7th year coaching basketball. He has coached for three years in boys’ AAU basketball, one year at the college level as a men’s assistant, one year as a head varsity boys’ basketball coach, and, most recently, as an assistant high school girls’ basketball coach.
Coach Rigdon’s goal is to help push his students and student-athletes to become better men and women. He wants them to develop strong character traits in the classroom and on the basketball floor that they can use in the real world. He sets a high bar for his students and his student-athletes and wants to help them gain new skill sets and help prepare them for their next chapter in life. He would like them to learn the importance of being physically active in their daily lives. He will instill discipline, integrity, and respect in our young men as they represent Community R-VI with class, on and off the court. He pushes to incorporate team-style basketball. And he wants other teams to see how hard our team will play on any given night and the toughness we bring. Community R-VI again welcomes Coach Rigdon to our school district, and we look forward to him getting started and meeting everyone soon.

Proud update from our Scholar Bowl team: strong performances across conference and district competition this spring.
At the March 23 conference in Glasgow, team members Matthew Utterback, Andrew Poindexter, Natali Sommer, and Hailey Schmidt competed in seven matches; Matthew earned 3rd-highest individual scorer. At districts on April 18 in St. Elizabeth, Matthew Utterback, Andrew Poindexter, Sophie Fennewald, Gabby Knipfel, Natali Sommer, and Alex Poindexter advanced to the finals, ultimately getting knocked out by a highly experienced opponent (the previous year’s Class 2 state champion). Matthew was named to the All-District team and placed 2nd among individual scorers. Congratulations all!

Over the weekend, a student from Mark Twain lost his courageous battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Keaton's family and friends. To show our support, we are joining other local schools and are encouraging everyone to wear blue tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Thank you for helping us come together to honor and support his family & the Mark Twain community.
