Community R-6 will be in session on Tuesday, January 14. We are so excited to see our students again! We still have some significant issues with ice in areas on our gravel roads that present safety concerns. We will run our snow routes in the mornings and evenings until further notice. We will reassess our routes daily, give updates, and return to regular routes as soon as possible. Tuesday will be our first time running snow routes this year. Please give some grace on the estimated times for pick up and drop off, as there may be a delay. Snow routes can be found on our webpage cr6.net or https://5il.co/13npr

We would like to express our gratitude to Representative Kent Haden for welcoming our 7th and 8th graders to the State Capitol today. Learning about civic engagement and the legislative process was a valuable experience for our students. Thank you, Mr. Haden!

As we near the winter months, we would like to remind you of our procedures regarding school closures, snow routes, and delays. The superintendent and transportation director will make decisions regarding these matters as early as possible, prioritizing the safety of our students, staff, and families. When a decision is reached, we will take the following steps to communicate with our community: Announcements will be posted on Facebook, X, and our school website. Parents will receive notifications via phone, text, and email. Local radio and news media, including KXEO and KOMU, will be informed. Snow Routes: In the event of snow routes, we will implement a “hard surface roads only” plan, with estimated times communicated to parents via email and on the school’s website cr6.net. 2-Hour Delay: If we need to delay the start of school by 2 hours, the new start time will be 9:50 AM. Doors will open at 9:30 AM, and bus pick-up times will be adjusted accordingly. Breakfast and lunch will be served. A.M.I. Days: In some cases, where we have advanced notice of dangerous weather or after five regular snow days have been used, we will transition to Alternative Methods of Instruction (A.M.I.) days for additional days, if needed. Elementary students can refer to their A.M.I. packets in their backpacks, while middle and high school students should log in to Canvas for their assignments. All teachers will be available via email and will hold office hours.
